Prepping your Face before Makeup
It is important to wash your face before applying makeup, by doing this, you will be able to start with a fresh canvas. Use a cleanser or wash with lukewarm water to freshen up your face. Avoid washing your face with hot water as this will dry out your skin. Then gently pat it dry with a soft towel.
You can also consider exfoliating, but it is not necessary to do so daily. Doing so once or twice a week depending on your skin type should keep your skin looking fresh. Last but not least apply the moisturiser and gently massage it all over your face. Let your skin absorb the moisturiser for a few minutes before starting your makeup.
How to Apply Base Makeup
Start by applying the primer as this creates an extra layer between your skin and your makeup. This will make the makeup last longer, smoothes the skin and evens out the skin tone.
If you have dark circles under your eyes or blemishes throughout your face, use a concealer to cover them up. You generally would want a concealer that matches your skin tone. However, if you have dark circles under the eyes conceal with orange tones to neutralise the colour. On the other hand, if you have redness on the face use green concealer as this will neutralise the redness of the face.
Apply foundation that matches your skin tone. Apply it evenly over your face using a foundation brush or a sponge starting at the centre of the face and blending it outwards. It is important that when you buy foundation you test the colour along your jawline. After applying foundation, it is important to finish off the look with powder. The powder will set the foundation giving you a natural look and making sure foundation stays in place all day.
Last but not least, finish off the look by applying blusher as it will add a natural glow to the skin as well.
